Ralph’s Room, Mixed Media Installation, 2017
The following is an ode to the unknown, using traditional techniques in unexpected ways.
The world, like the mind of the artist, is a scary but beautifully interesting place.
Walk towards the unknown, you might have fun; might not. Depends on the day.
Imaginary Friends Zine - 2023 8.5”x11” - Mixed Media Collage We all had imaginary friends as children. But have we ever stopped to ask what happens to them after we grow up?
Imaginary Friends Zine 2 - 2023 8.5”x11” - Mixed Media Collage Do our imaginary friends still exist if we no longer acknowledge them? Can we even still see them if we try?
Imaginary Friends Zine 3 - 2023 8.5”x11” - Mixed Media Collage This Zine dares to grapple with a plight not often discussed: that of the imaginary. The red, fuzzy gentleman on the right is named Ralph. Post-reverse mitosis.
For Allie - 2024 16” diameter - Oil Paint on Canvas This face is made of those in Allie’s life. The Chin divot and dimple are her father’s and brother’s. The eyes are hers, but the eyebrows that sit over them belong to my sister. The lips are from her mother and the nose is from the woman that raised her. She always has it hung up because she finds it comforting. Her roommates disagree and think it’s creepy. I think two truths can be right at the same time.
Ode to a Lost Bear - 2025 16" x 12" - Oil on Canvas Inspired by a lost teddy bear, this oil painting forces the viewer to look into the eyes of those you’ve forgotten and left behind. The horizon circles around the well kept, if not a little worn, teddy bear as if the whole world revolves around him. He is nowhere identifiable and could be anywhere, possibly everywhere. But he is out there and you ought not forget him.
Little Home - 2025 5"x5"x5" - Digital photograph of mixed-media sculpture Taken in Prospect Park, this photo emphasizes whimsy and mystery existing in even the busiest of lives if we only stop to see it. The house is cared for and in active use. Who lives there? No idea. Could be a fairy, could be a cockroach.
Muse - 2024 14"x8"x10" - Digital photograph of mixed-media sculpture The Muse captures The Artist mid-painting, with a state of clutter and an atmosphere charged with obsessive focus on The Muse. A miniature, three-dimensional recreation of an artist’s studio, caught in the intensity of a hypomanic creative state.
Fish - 2025 30"x6"x1" - Mixed Media Collage "Fish" is a mixed media piece made with predominantly found objects and driven by the desire to create extraordinary out of ordinary. Initially inspired by a leak and some “ruined” address labels, this piece exhibits the creativity that leaks outside of work hours while working a 9-5. Carving into old erasers, tissue paper saved from a shopping bag, address labels and a little bit of paint, turned a colorful piece that romanticizes both the natural world, and a man made one.
Mooning - 2025 9"x12" - Linoleum Carving The moon watches down on a small, impractical castle. Whoever owns this went for impact over utility. It must have been very expensive to get those rocks all the way out into the middle of the forest. The Moon seems unimpressed as though this isn’t the first time it has come across a useless castle.
Dream Kitchen - 2026 24”x20” - Oil on Canvas Board My sister and I used to design rooms for dollhouses we would never make. Now, I design a kitchen I will likely never be able to afford. Time lays in wait for this space in use. I hear they’re having spaghetti and meatballs for dinner tonight. Someone will be back in to start it any minute now...
Candy Breathing Dragon - 2025 30"x6"x30' - Mixed-media sculpture Once a year, on Halloween, our usual skepticism is curbed. People come out of their shells and dress for who they want to be and not who they are. This 30 foot long dragon was strung from a brownstone fire escape for only 24 hours, allowing for both the second and third floor residents to send candy down a chute to the trick-or-treaters below. Though many partook, few paused to look up and see where the Candy Breathing Dragon originated. It was gone early the next day before they could come back to check. It is my hope that, for the rest of their lives, those who saw the Candy Breathing Dragon are never entirely sure whether or not it was a figment of their imagination.
Choo Choo!- 2025 1920x1080 px - Stop Motion A train passes through a peaceful garden.
Pumpkin Head - 2025 1600x1063 px - Digital photograph of mixed-media sculpture Pumpkin Head, oh Pumpkin Head, wandering through the park. He has no aim but smiles away, content to be in dark.
Pumpkin Head 4 - 2025 1063x1600 px - Digital photograph of mixed-media sculpture One day he’ll know where he goes, but maybe not today. So for now, he’ll march head-high, and continue on his way.
Froggy M. Knickerbocker and Henry Pilkington go on an Adventure - 2025 1600x1063px (Froggy 16”and Henry 8”) - Digital photograph of mixed-media sculptures Froggy M. Knickerbocker (2022), is a well dressed bipedal frog full of exuberance and idealism. Mr. Knickerbocker has spent the past few years going on adventures, but longs for companionship. In came Henry Pilkington (2025). Henry and Froggy enjoy their adventures together but also enjoy a night at home. Though they enjoy creature comforts, they aren't scared to go out on a limb and try something new, as long as they are together. Froggy doesn’t know this, but next week, Henry plans to propose. Right next to this very fire pit. They live happily ever after.
